The Mighty Nein's Introductory Sequence Selected the Wrong Critical Role Song

This latest animated series, the newest animated series by Critical Role, revealed an exciting opening credits. It showcases our favorite cast of misfits, misfits, and rogues fighting hard and taking names, while teasing at several heart-wrenching backstories for key figures including Liam O'Brien's wizard Caleb, and another actor's orc warlock, the character Fjord.

All in all, the intro looks stunning. However, I felt that something was lost in the song choice.

This sequence employs "Welcome to the Continent", a truly stellar composition created by artist Colm McGuinness. It's a track originating from the official score of that title, the second one released by Critical Role Productions LLC's record label their music brand. It's a wonderful sentimental option, and I believe that devotees of the second campaign will appreciate its presence.

Personally, The Mighty Nein's intro doesn't quite capture the excitement and excitement that accompanied the second campaign's live-play sessions. "Your Turn to Roll", composed by musician the artist, was an instant classic in my view when it was initially unveiled in that year, and it improved further when co-founder the performer added lyrics to the melody for the animated Campaign 2 opening in the later year.

Featuring vocals from Ashley Johnson, Laura Bailey, Travis Willingham, as well as the writer, the song was memorable and enjoyable. At the time, I hadn't seen the second campaign at that point, but it was so infectious that I still saved it on my device. It's a song that knows how to get you pumped before you dive into an installment of fantasy hijinks.

The Mighty Nein's opening with "the new song" fails to hit the right notes for me. It's a grand piece of music, but from what I know of this party, I can't help but feel that its mood is somewhat mismatched.

Of course, the creators has already said that the animated show will have some changes and variations from the actual-play campaign. A tonal change for its opening seems to be among these.

This animated adventure will be released on Prime Video from November 19. For those eager until then, or want a head start to get to know the characters of Critical Role's Campaign 2, the original episodes are available on the audio platform and the video site.
