The Blue Jays Secure World Series Matchup With the Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

George Springer was instrumental for the Astros securing the World Series in 2017.

Canada's MLB team advanced to their maiden Fall Classic after the 1993 season by beating the Seattle Mariners in the final seventh game of the AL Championship Series.

Trailing by two runs, Springer smashed a three-run blast in the seventh frame, propelling the Toronto squad in the majors to a 4-3 victory in the best-of-seven series. Next up are the Los Angeles Dodgers, holders of the reigning title, in the upcoming Fall Classic.

"I'm thrilled for our team, the city, the nation," said Springer, an integral part of the Astros team that secured the 2017 championship. "What an unbelievable moment."

The veteran has now hit twenty-three post-season home runs, ranking him third in history behind Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (27).

"It's hard to imagine anyone else anywhere that I'd prefer in that spot besides him with his playoff prowess," remarked Schneider.

Seattle's team, who had led the series two games to none and three games to two, are still the only MLB franchise never to appear in a championship series.

Wilson commented "certainly that it hurts" in the wake of his side's defeat at Rogers Centre, but commended their efforts throughout the year.

"This is a unique group. Sadly that we had to come out on the wrong side of the series," he remarked.

Toronto's team won the World Series on their two prior appearances in the early 90s, and will welcome the Los Angeles in the opener on the upcoming Friday.
