The Austrian squad has confirmed a major reshuffle for the 2026 Formula 1 season, moving up Frenchman Isack Hadjar to its main squad and awarding British teenager Arvid Lindblad his maiden Formula 1 seat. Lindblad, who has a Swedish father and a mother of Indian descent, is set to become the partner of Kiwi driver Liam Lawson at the second team Racing Bulls. These changes results in Japanese driver Yuki Tsunoda being without a drive post a half-decade in F1. A Star in the Making Arvid Lindblad drove FP1 for the Silverstone and Mexican Grands Prix this year. The youngster was identified as a prodigy by Red Bull from the age of 12 years old. Regarding the company's young driver programme, a key advisor previously said that Lindblad "seems extremely gifted", commending his "pure speed". Red Bull has had a plan for some time to prepare Lindblad for his likely Grand Prix bow in 2026, featuring appearances in F1 practice sessions at Silverstone and Mexico City. Lindblad stated it was a "dream come true", commenting: "Next season represents a massive test, and I know there's plenty to absorb, but I'm prepared to collaborate with the team and meet the challenge. I am incredibly excited to get started." He has won two races in F2 this year and is sixth in the standings heading into the season finale in Abu Dhabi. A Major Opportunity for Hadjar The French driver enjoys his first podium in F1, achieved at the Dutch Grand Prix in August. Hadjar's F1 career started in difficult fashion when he spun out on the formation lap of the first Australian Grand Prix. But, since then, he has emerged as one of the most impressive rookies this season. His performances included an excellent top-three result at the Dutch Grand Prix, and he sits 10th in the championship. A senior team figure commented: "Hadjar has shown great maturity and demonstrated to be a fast adapter. Crucially, he has the raw speed that is the number one requirement in this sport. We believe he can succeed alongside Max." The promoted driver called it "a fantastic step" and said he felt "ready". Tsunoda's Exit To partner Lindblad at the junior team, Red Bull have opted for Lawson instead of Tsunoda. Lawson started 2025 with the main team but was demoted after just two races. He has settled back in at the junior outfit with some strong performances, persuading Red Bull he deserves more time. Tsunoda, in contrast, loses his place after a difficult season. His highest finish is a P6, and he has scored a small fraction of the team's constructors' championship. The driver market moves mean that there is also no place on the Red Bull programme for Ireland's Alex Dunne, who will remain in F2 next season.
