President Trump stated on Sunday that he has invited the family of a Guard member fatally shot last week to visit the executive mansion.

He added that he spoke to her family and they were “heartbroken”.

Details on the Tragic Incident

Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was fatally shot in a shooting on last Wednesday in DC.

Her colleague, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in serious condition.

Gatherings across the state have taken place in their remembrance.

Presidential Offer

The commander-in-chief said he’s proposed a White House visit for the families of both individuals of the state Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a hard experience, visit the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” Trump told reporters. “And in the same way with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”

Community Support

Attendees came together over the weekend at the high school in West Virginia to pay respects to Beckstrom.

Both the soldiers had been working with the state guard as part of Trump’s national effort to assist law enforcement in DC.

“Sarah was the individual that instructors wished for. She behaved with quiet strength, a warm expression and a optimistic attitude that inspired those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the principal of her former high school, stated to the press. “She was sweet, caring and always willing to help others.”

Service details for Beckstrom are still being arranged.

Legal Measures and Government Changes

Authorities have accused a twenty-nine-year-old suspect with one count of murder and two counts of assault with intent to kill while carrying a weapon.

The incident prompted the administration to suspend asylum processing and cease granting visas to possessors of travel documents.

Condition of Wolfe

Wolfe, a resident of Martinsburg, enlisted in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, per the AP.

He remains under medical supervision and is “fighting for his life”, West Virginia leader Morrisey mentioned on a news program.

The state’s top lawyer Pam Bondi told a news show that she planned to meet with the family.

Memory of Beckstrom

Sarah, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County High in June 2023 and enlisted soon after, serving as a MP with excellence, per the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of compassion and she definitely had bravery,” the governor informed the audience at the memorial. “Though her life lasted far too short, she has created a legacy that’s going to be remembered always.”
